Oh hi there.

Let’s start with two facts about me.

  1. I was always the least flexible kid in gym class.
  2. I have made cakes that see the inside of a trash can but not the inside of a human stomach.

As the name of this blog might lead you to believe, I’ll be writing a lot about yoga and baking. You might wonder why, given the two facts I just shared. Well, this blog is a little bit about yoga and baking, but it’s more about personal growth.

Even though flexibility and baked goods have never been my forte, I accidentally discovered a love for them both a few years ago. A debilitating vestibular disorder and a child with severe food allergies pushed me to start doing yoga and bake from scratch, two things I never thought I’d do on the regular. The thought of these activities intimidated me even though I was immensely enjoying them both. I’m in my mid-30s and I’ve fallen into this mindset that I’m good at certain things and will never be good at others.

But as we wrap up the last week of this decade, I’ve decided to give the middle finger to this mindset. I want to be able to look back and say, “Wow, remember when I couldn’t do that yoga pose? Now it’s my favorite!” or “I can’t believe there was a day when I couldn’t make a cake roll!” (Send your cake roll tips my way, please and thank you.) I need to remind myself that you never have to stop growing and finding new things to learn and enjoy.

Welcome to Cat Cow & Cake. I hope you enjoy following along with me!

November 2019: This is as far as I can go in a seated forward bend.
My worst baking failure to date. RIP cake roll.
